The Little Things Podcast

Episode 1: Waiting for the Beat to Drop The Impending Consequences of Urban Development and Sound Pollution in Manila Philippines

Welcome to the first Big Things podcast episode, an educational series on the Little Things Pod. This podcast aims to investigate the following: (1) what does it mean to consider sound pollution in the context of environmental racism as explored within a growing Asian urban center such as Manila and (2) what are the socio-political and culture issues/consequences that intersect with the prominent health concerns raised by sound pollution in the Manila urban complex? These questions hope to build a cohesive argument that exemplifies how environmental racism manifests in growing urban landscapes, altering not only the physical, but social and political environment as well, through unconventional or overlooked forms of pollution. This was recorded for a class at Vanderbilt University and this pod features a song by OPM artist's 6 Cyclemind, "Biglaan."
